How to Work as a Nurse in the Middle East-

This guide explains the step-by-step process for nurses who want to work in Middle Eastern countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, and Bahrain.  Nurseshire.com assists you throughout the entire process  from credential verification to licensing and job placement.

Step 1: Credential Evaluation and Primary Source Verification (DataFlow)

Before working in the Middle East, your nursing qualifications and experience must be verified by an approved credentialing and primary source verification agency such as DataFlow.

Documents required:

  • Nursing degree and transcripts
  • Nursing license from home country
  • Experience certificates (at least 2 years recommended)
  • Passport copy
  • Recent photographs

Purpose:
DataFlow confirms the authenticity of your education, license, and experience directly from the issuing authorities. This verification is mandatory for licensing in all Middle Eastern countries.

This guide will help international nurses understand the complete process of working in the United States from credential evaluation to licensing, NCLEX exam, and EB-3 visa processing.

Step 2: Apply for Professional Classification / Credentialing

After DataFlow verification, you must apply for Professional Classification through the regulatory authority of the country you wish to work in.

Examples of regulatory authorities:

  • Saudi Arabia: Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS)
  • UAE: Dubai Health Authority (DHA) / Department of Health Abu Dhabi (DOH/HAAD) / Ministry of Health (MOH)
  • Qatar: Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP)
  • Oman: Oman Medical Specialty Board (OMSB)
  • Kuwait: Ministry of Health (MOH)
  • Bahrain: National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA)

Purpose:
To confirm your eligibility to work as a nurse and assign your professional category (Registered Nurse, Assistant Nurse, etc.) according to your qualifications and experience.

Step 3: Exam Registration and Licensing

Once your classification is approved, you need to register for the licensing exam required by the respective country’s authority.

Examples:

  • Saudi Arabia (SCFHS): Prometric Exam
  • UAE (DHA / MOH / DOH): Prometric Exam
  • Qatar (QCHP): Prometric Exam
  • Oman (OMSB): Prometric Exam

Process:

  1. Register for the Prometric exam through the authorized portal.
  2. Prepare using official study materials and past papers.
  3. Attend the exam at an approved testing center in your country or online.

After passing the exam, you will receive an eligibility letter or license approval, depending on the country.

Step 4: Apply for Nursing License

After passing the exam and completing verification, you can apply for your nursing license from the relevant authority.

You will need:

  • DataFlow verification report
  • Exam result (Pass)
  • Valid passport and photo
  • Home country license
  • Employment offer or facility details (if applicable)

Once approved, you will receive your professional nursing license, which allows you to work legally in that country.
